Noted filmmaker Anil Ganguly passes away

Noted filmmaker Anil Ganguly passed away in Mumbai, Maharashtra after a brief illness. He was 82.
He was noted screenwriter and director who had worked in Hindi cinema from 1970s to 90s.
He is best known for films like Kora Kagaz (1974) and Tapasya (1975) both of which have won National Film Award in Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment Category.
His other notable films are Trishna (1978), Khandaan (1979), Humkadam (1980), Pyar Ke Kabil (1987), Balidan (1990 in Bengali), Dushman Devta (1991) etc. His last major film was Saaheb (1985).
His daughter Rupali Ganguly is a theatre and television actress and his son Vijay Ganguly is a choreographer and director.
