Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease or NAFLD refers to a range of liver conditions where abnormal amount of fats accumulate in the liver despite the absence of causatives like alcoholism, medications or viral hepatitis. Some of the examples include simple fatty liver disease and other more serious issues like non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, cirrhosis, liver cancer, etc. Recently, the operational guidelines for integrating NAFLD with National Program for Prevention & Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases and Stroke was launched by the health ministry.
