NMCG of Jal Shakti Ministry organises the 4th India Water Impact Summit

The ‘India Water Impact Summit’ is an annual event where problems and solutions for the biggest water related issues in the country are discussed.

The 4th India Water Impact Summit was held from December 5th to 7th, 2019 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. It was jointly organised by the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) of Ministry of Jal Shakti and Centre for Ganga River Basin Management and Studies (cGanga) led by IIT-Kanpur. The summit was inaugurated by Union Minister of Jal Shakti, Gajendra Singh Shekawat.

Several ambassadors and representatives from across the globe, especially from the European Union countries participated in the summit.

During the summit, the Jal Shakti ministry also released the following reports:

  1. ‘Ambassadors’ Meet’
  2. ‘River Restoration and Conservation – A Concise Manual and Guide’
  3. Documents on ‘Ganga Hubs’

Theme

The theme for this year’s summit was: ‘Valuing Water – Transforming Ganga‘. The annual summit also focussed on integrated water resource management in urban and rural areas. The prime objective of the summit was bringing together global financial investors and institutions to focus on water impact in smart cities.

About cGanga

In 2016, The Centre for Ganga River Basin Management and Studies (cGanga) was established at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. The centre acts as a comprehensive think-tank to the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, in achieving its goals and objectives towards the Ganga River Basin.

Previous Summit

The previous annual summit, which was the 3rd edition of Water impact summit was organised on the 5th to 7th of December, 2018 at New Delhi.
