Nitin Gadkari calls for Roadmap on Road Safety

The 18th edition of the Meeting of National Road Safety Council along with the 39th edition of the Meeting of Transport Development Council was organized in New Delhi on Thursday, 16th January 2020 during which the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari emphasized upon the combined efforts of all stakeholders to curb road accidents across the country and called upon all transport ministers of the states to come forward for preparation of a roadmap that without bothering the expenses much will serve the larger public.

The meeting was conducted for discussion on several issues related to road safety that also includes Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Act 2019, One Nation One Tax, digitization of transport system, etc, in which Transport Ministers from various states along with senior officials participated. The Minister also pointed out that resources worth Rs 14,000 crore are available for improving the engineering of roads will be undertaken soon, as at present black spots are being identified and repaired at a fast pace across the National and State Highways of the country.
