Nishagandhi Monsoon Ragas Music Fest organized by Kerala
Nishagandhi Monsoon Ragas Music Festival is being organised by Kerala Tourism in Thiruvananthapuram. The five-day annual music festival is being held from 20 to 24 July 2019. It marks state’s successful entry into music tourism and seeks to attract more tourists to Kerala.
Key Highlights of Fest
Music festival brings a rare treat of classical and ethnic musical traditions of sub-continent. It features both vocalists and instrumentalists.
Organising such events promotes art and culture of state and moreover harmony of ragas enriches listeners’ minds with lights of optimism.
Eminent classical musicians Parassala B Ponnammal and T V Gopalakrishnan have been selected for inaugural Nishagandhi Sangeetha Puraskaram. This award has been instituted by Kerala Tourism to honour artists who have made outstanding contributions to music. It carries a cash prize of Rs 1.5 lakh, citation and memento.
Significance of such Fest: The unity in diversity has helped coastal state to make a strong comeback from devastating floods and other natural disasters and tourism has proved its unique character in the adverse situations.
