NISAR

NISAR or NASA ISRO SAR is an imaging satellite that is being developed by NASA and ISRO in a collaborative project. The satellite is to be launched from Satish Dawan Space Center in Sriharikota in 2022. It is to be placed in the near earth orbit and it would be scanning the earth every 12 days. It is a 3 year mission that will involve the scanning of lands, ice sheets and sea ice to determine the rate at which the ice is melting. It will also give signals to warn of imminent volcanic eruptions.
