Nigeria’s Amina Mohammed announced as new UN deputy Secretary General
United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has confirmed Amina Mohammed as his Deputy Secretary-General (DSG). He has also appointed Maria Viotti of Brazil (Chef de Cabinet) and Kyung-Wha Kang of the Republic of Korea as Special advisor on policy (new role to be created). Amina Mohammed is Nigeria’s Environment minister. She has been instrumental in facilitating the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development including the Sustainable Development Goals. She has previously served as an adviser to the outgoing UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon.
