National Informatics Centre (NIC) has set up cloud-enabled National Data Centre at Bhubaneswar, Odisha. It will offer round-the-clock operations with secure hosting for e-governance applications of ministries and departments. Key Facts
Bhubaneswar based centre is expected to enhance range of data centre related services offered by government body. It will provide benefits like on-demand access to ICT (Information and Communication Technology) infrastructure for easy availability and quick deployment of applications and standardised platforms of deployment.
Centralised cloud environment of this centre has been established to host multiple applications with simplified operations and increased application responsiveness to support new generation of distributed applications. The cloud service offerings of NIC will allow government departments to provision infrastructure and add to computing capacity on demand.
National Informatics Centre (NIC)
NIC (Rashtriya Suchna Vigyan Kendra) is premier science & technology organisation of Government in informatics services and information and communication technology (ICT) applications. It is part of MeitY’s Department of Electronics & Information Technology. It was established in 1976.
It plays a pivotal role in steering e-governance applications in governmental departments at national, state and district levels, thus enabling improvement and wider transparency in government services. Almost all Indian-government websites are developed and managed by NIC.
