NHA Health Benefit Package 2022

A new version of the Health Benefit Package 2022, has been launched by the National Health Authority under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.

Overview:

  • 365 new procedures have been added in the new version of the NHA Health benefit Package which takes the total to 1,949.
  • Under this scheme, differential pricing has been introduced that is based on city type and the level of care.
  • This package was launched on the 7th of April 2022 at a two-day meeting that was held at Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu.

About the meeting

This meeting was organized with the aim of reviewing the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission and the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) in the southern states and Union Territories of the country. The review meeting was titled ‘Ayushman Sangam’ and was organized by the National Health Authority on the 7th and 8th of April. This was the meeting’s 3rd edition and covered Andhra Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Kerala, Karnataka, Puducherry, Lakshadweep, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu. Earlier Similar regional meetings have been organized by the NHA to cover the country’s west and north zones.

Other Announcements

A new initiative of patient classification systems was also announced by the National Health Authority. The patient classification will be done via the International Classification of Health Intervention and ICD-11 (International classification of disease) for AB-PMJAY. The Diagnosis Related Grouping (DRG) was also pilot launched in the states of Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Kerala, and Meghalaya. Also, the first insurance scheme in India that will be providing a payment mechanism through DRG will be the AB-PMJAY.
