Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the former finance minister of Nigeria, made history recently by becoming the first woman and first African director general of the World Trade Organisation. The WTO director general is in charge of supervising and directing the organisation’s administrative operations. This position has limited formal power. The issues to be tackled by Okonjo-Iweala are US-China trade war, reforming trade rules and pandemic-induced protectionism among countries.
