‘Harit Path’ mobile app developed by NHAI
National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, has developed a mobile App called ‘Harit Path’. It aims to monitor the location, growth, species details, maintenance activities, targets and achievements of plantation projects.
YES Bank inks deal to sell its mutual fund business
YES Bank has signed a deal with GPL Finance and Investments (GPLFI), which is owned by White Oak Investment Management, to sell its 100% stake in YES Asset Management Company (AMC) and YES Trustee Limited. The AMC was managing three debt-oriented mutual fund schemes.
August 21: International Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism
UN General Assembly established August 21 as the International Day of Remembrance of and Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism in the year 2017. The day is observed to honor the victims and survivors of terrorism and to protect their rights. Not forgotten was the theme of the campaign.
Myanmar signs agreement for National Ceasefire Agreement with armed groups
The government of Myanmar signs agreement for the implementation of National Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) with ten armed ethnic groups signed a framework agreement. This was signed at the end of the 4th session of the Union Peace Conference -21st Century Panglong.
Rajiv Kumar appointed as the new Election Commissioner.
Former Finance Secretary of India Rajiv Kumar has been appointed as the new Election Commissioner. As per the new notification of the Ministry of Law and Justice, Rajiv Kumar is to replace the Election Commissioner Ashok Lavasa, who is to join ADB as a Vice President.
Wildfires at California claims several lives
Massive wildfires blazed across California which claimed several lives and forced tens of thousands of people to evacuate from their homes. Over 2000 square kilometers of forests and rural areas were threatened by the fire. Fire fighters are battling to contain the massive wildfire.
