JK-IGRAMS: New Grievance Redress System unveiled in J&K
The Lieutenant-Governor (L-G) of Jammu and Kashmir has launched the ‘Jammu and Kashmir- Integrated Grievance Redress and Monitoring System'(JK-IGRAMS).

- The system will create an interface with the public.
- It will focus on governance issues in the Union Territory.
- It will be providing a grievance redressal mechanism thus ensuring the good governance.
- With this system, the government shows that they are committed to undertake all radical reforms by putting people at the centre.
- The system will firstly be launched in three districts namely Jammu, Srinagar, and Reasi.
- It will further be rolled out in the remaining districts gradually by October 2.
- It replaces the portal that was launched in 2018 for the same purpose.
- This would make the existing mechanism more efficient by providing regular update of the grievances on the portal.
- District Collectors and Deputy Commissioners will be the nodal officer for receiving, disposing and monitoring the grievances.
Earlier, LG has also launched ‘Back to Village’ Campaign to strengthen the panchayats.
‘Back to Village’ campaign
“Back to village” campaign was launched in Jammu and Kashmir in 2019. It has four main goals:
- To energize the Panchayats.
- To collect feedback on delivery of government schemes and programs.
- To capture specific economic potential.
- To undertake assessment of needs of villagers.
Under the program, the administrative department of the state government visit all the 4483 Panchayat in order to get the grassroots level feedback from general public. For this purpose, government has deployed one gazette officer as nodal officer in each Panchayat. The program encourages the community participation and raise the standard of living.
