Nayanamritham 2.0

The Government of Kerala has launched Nayanamritham 2.0. This initiative is the world’s first government-led programme for AI-assisted chronic eye disease screening. Introduction of Nayanamritham 2.0

Nayanamritham 2.0 builds on the earlier model. It empowers optometrists with AI-enabled fundus cameras from Remidio. These cameras classify cases as referable or non-referable instantly. This ensures faster diagnoses and timely referrals for patients.

Expanded Scope of Screening

The new phase includes screening for glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration (AMD). These additions address more chronic eye diseases. The programme now extends to Community Health Centers, Taluk Hospitals, and District Hospitals. This ensures comprehensive eye care is available at all healthcare levels.

Nayanamritham 2.0 sets a global precedent for integrating AI into public health. It showcases how technology can improve healthcare systems.
