National Youth Parliament Festival

The national round of the National Youth Parliament Festival (NYPF) will be held on 10th and 11th March 2022.

Background

  • National Youth Parliament Festival is based on the idea shared by PM Modi in his Mann Ki Baat Address in 2017. PM believed that youth should become the voice of India.
  • The 1st edition of NYPF was organized in 2019. 56 finalists and 700 delegates representing each district of India participated at National Youth Parliament. PM gave the Prizes to the National Awardees.
  • The 2nd edition of NYPF was organized from 23rd December 2020 to 12th January 2021. 2.34 Lakh youth from 698 Districts participated in District Youth Parliaments (DYPs). 1,345 district awardees contested at State Youth Parliaments (SYPs). 84 State Awardees participated in National Youth Parliament and the top 3 winners shared their thoughts in presence of PM Modi.

Objectives of NYPF

  • To hear the voice of youth between 15-29 years of age on various issues, through deliberations in Youth Parliaments at District, State, and National levels.
  • To encourage the youth to engage with public issues and form their opinions.
  • To enhance the decision-making abilities of the youth.
  • To develop in youth tolerance for others’ points of view.
  • To document the opinions of youth on the Vision of New India.
  • To make views of youth available to policymakers to take it forward.
  • To make youth understand that respecting rules is essential for any effective discussion.

The third edition of NYPF

The 3rd edition of NYPF was launched through virtual mode on 14th February 2022 at the District level. Around 2 lakh 44 thousand youth across the country participated in the District Youth Parliaments (DYPs) followed by State Youth Parliaments (SYPs). The top three National Winners will get an opportunity to speak before the Lok Sabha Speaker.
