National Outreach Program ‘GeM Samvaad’ launched by GeM
The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) is a dedicated national public procurement e-market for different goods and services that are procured by the Central and State Government Departments, Autonomous institutions and local bodies.
The GeM was started on 9th August 2016 and has transformed public procurement across the country by making procurement paperless, contactless and cashless.
A national outreach program ‘GeM Samvaad’ was launched by Anup Wadhawan, Secretary of Department of Commerce, under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in New Delhi on Tuesday, 17th December 2019. The national outreach program will be in effect from Thursday, 19th December 2019 up to the 17th February 2020, under which stakeholders and local sellers from all states and union territories will be facilitated onboarding the e-marketplace.
At present, GeM has above 3 lakh registered sellers selling more than 15 lakh products and around 20,000 services, with more than 40 thousand government buyer organizations.
