National Energy Conservation Day 2019

The National Energy Conservation Day is celebrated annually on the 14th December across India to drive mass awareness about the importance of energy conservation and efficiency. It is observed under the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), an agency of Government of India under the Ministry of Power. BEE encourages and recognizes the endeavors of companies and industries in reducing the energy consumption by felicitating them with National Energy Conservation Awards.
This year to mark the occasion a week-long National Energy Conservation week has been observed throughout the country by the BEE from 9th December to 14th December 2019.
During the week, a National Level painting competition was organized in Delhi, where the participants were selected on the basis of two categories School level and State Level. The painting competition was conducted from class 4th-9th students to make them aware of the importance of Energy Conservation. More than 84 Lakh children have participated in the competition from schools across the country.
In September 2001, the Energy Conservation Act was passed by the Parliament of the country, under the provisions of which BEE was established in March 2002.
