National e-Governance Service Delivery Assessment was recently conducted by “Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG)”, in partnership with Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler (KPMG) and National Association of Software & Service Companies (NASSCOM).
Key Points
- In the assessment, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) was ranked first under the Central ministries’ portal.
- MHA is followed by “Digital Police portal” of National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
- MHA was shortlisted for evaluation as parent ministry, while the digital police portal of NCRB was shortlisted under the services portal of MHA.
National e-Governance Service Delivery Assessment
The National e-Governance Service Delivery Assessment is done periodically, with the objective of improving the effectiveness of states and Union Territories as well as Central government in terms of delivering their online services to citizens. In the assessment, services portal is assessed along with their parent ministry and department’s portal.
National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB)
NCRB is an Indian government agency, which is involved in collecting and analysing crime data defined under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) as well as Special & Local Laws (SLL). It is headquartered in New Delhi. Ministry of Home Affairs is its parent ministry. It was established in 1986, to act as a repository of information related to crime and criminals in a bid to assist the investigators in linking crime to perpetrators.
National Association of Software & Service Companies (NASSCOM)
NASSCOM is a non-governmental, non-profit trade association and advocacy group in India. It mainly focuses on technology industry of India. It was set up in 1988.
