Dairy Sector in India
India is the largest producer of milk in the world. According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation India contributes 22% of the world annual milk production. However, the covid-19 pandemic has affected the diary sector of India adversely. This has reduced the milk prices by 10 to 13 rupees per litre. In this scenario it is important for the Government of India to increase milk Exports. The Memorandum of understanding find recently with Ladakh will help achieve increased imports.
Dard Aryans
This step will help the ethnic group of Ladakh called Dard Aryans. They rear sheep and goat for milk and meat. They are included in the Scheduled Tribes list.
