National Cyber Forensic Lab and CyPAD Inaugurated

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated a national cyber forensic lab and Cyber Prevention, Awareness & Detection Centre (CyPAD). The National Cyber Forensic Lab (NCFL) is part of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) initiative and CyPAD is the Delhi Police’s cybercrime unit.

Cyber Prevention, Awareness & Detection Centre

Cyber Prevention, Awareness & Detection Centre (CyPAD) forensics, cyber safety and security-related services to the citizens as well as to police units and agencies of Delhi. CyPAD will deal with crypto-currency frauds, international tech-supported frauds and other cybersecurity related services.

National Cyber Forensic Lab (NCFL)

National Cyber Forensic Lab (NCFL) is part of the Union Home Ministry’s Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C). The NCFL includes units likes Memory Forensics Labs, Image Enhancement Lab, Network Forensics Lab, Malware Forensics Lab, Cryptocurrency Forensics Lab, Damaged Hard Disk and Advanced Mobile Forensics Lab. Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) consists of seven verticals namely

  • National Cybercrime Threat Analytics Unit (TAU).
  • National Cybercrime Reporting.
  • Platform for Joint Cybercrime Investigation Team.
  • National Cybercrime Forensic Laboratory (NCFL) Ecosystem.
  • National Cybercrime Training Centre (NCTC).
  • Cybercrime Ecosystem Management Unit.
  • National Cyber Research and Innovation Centre.

Both CyPAD and NCFL will assist law enforcers to proactively address cyber threats in coordination with other law-enforcement agencies, national & international cybersecurity organisation and various online intermediaries.
