National Career Service (NCS) e-Book

On 7th March 2022, an e-Book regarding the journey of the National Career Service (NCS) was launched by Dr. Shashank Goel, Additional Secretary/Director General of Employment, Ministry of Labor and Employment.

About the NCS e-book

  • The e-book of NCS was published on the occasion of iconic week (7th March to 13th March) celebrations by the Ministry of Labor and Employment, as a part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
  • The e-book of NCS provides an overview and highlights of the journey of NCS, its key achievements, and the success stories since the inception of the NCS portal in 2015. It is an effort to highlight various stakeholder activities involved in the NCS project.

  • NCS is a Mission Mode Project launched by Prime Minister Modi in 2015. It is being implemented by the Directorate General of Employment, Ministry of Labor & Employment.
  • NCS provides employment and career-related services to Indian citizens. It seeks to bridge the gap between:
    1. Jobseekers and employers
    2. Candidates seeking training and institutions providing training
    3. Candidates seeking career guidance and agencies providing career counseling.

NCS Portal

  • Using the following three essential pillars, NCS reaches out to the people:
    1. NCS Portal: It is well-designed Information and communications technology (ICT) based portal.
    2. Model Career Centers set up all over India.
    3. Inter-linkage with the states with the help of employment exchanges.
  • Job Seekers, Job providers, Career Counselors, Local Service Providers, Placement Organizations, and Government Departments can get registered for free on the NCS portal.
  • NCS portal provides various services such as job search, job matching, career counseling, information regarding employment drives, services of local service providers (LSPs), etc.
  • Career content’ regarding 3600 occupations is available on NCS Portal for counseling. Users of the NCS portal can call the Toll Free Number 1800-425-1514 for any support regarding the NCS project.

The success of the NCS project

Around 2 lakh Jobseekers got employed through job fairs organized under the NCS Project. Also, around 94 lakh vacancies were mobilized through NCS Portal.
