National Book Trust initiative to encourage reading
The Union Ministry of Human Resource and Development has launched the Stay Home India with Books initiative under the National Book Trust.
About NBT
National Book Trust is a publishing house that functions under the Union Ministry of Human Resource and Development. It was established in 1957 as an autonomous body. It is involved in publishing and promoting books, promoting reading, providing assistance to authors, etc.

The centre has launched the Stay Home India with Books initiative to encourage people to remain indoors and abide by the lockdown norms. Simultaneously it encourages people to read books. The initiative provides over a 100 books in PDF format that can be downloaded free of cost from the NBT website.
Languages
The initiative is to provide access to books not only in English but also in Indian languages- Hindi, Asamiya, Bangla, Guajarati, Malayalam, Odia, Marathi, Kokborok, Mizo, Bodo, Nepali, Tamil, Punjabi, Telugu, Kannada, Urdu and Sanskrit. The books are from various genres- fiction, biography, popular science, teacher’s handbook and books for children and young adults.
