Nari Shakti of North East

The Ministry of Development of the North Eastern Region (MDoNER), as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, is celebrating a week-long campaign called ‘Nari Shakti of the North East,’ to recognize the exceptional achievements of women and girls in North East India ahead of International Women’s Day 2022.

Overview:

  • The campaign was launched by Minister of Development of the North Eastern Region, G. Kishan Reddy.
  • During this ‘Nari Shakti Week,’ a range of social media activities have been planned.
  • MDoNER will host a virtual ‘Town Hall’ meeting where Minister Shri G. Kishan Reddy will interact with MDoNER’s Women Workforce, the North Eastern Council, and other government of India departments.
  • Other social media campaigns will also be organized which would focus on the Ministry’s efforts to transform the lives of Nari Shakti in the North Eastern Region.

Other Campaigns Conducted

The North Eastern Region Community Resource Management Society (NERCRMS), Shillong and Changlang Community Resource Management Society (CCRMS), in collaboration with the District Administration and with support from the North Eastern Council and Ministry of DoNER, successfully conducted an awareness campaign on female hygiene and care products across District Changlang, Arunachal Pradesh.

It was conducted under the convergence of the Chief Minister’s flagship initiative, which promotes girls’ hygiene and health, with awareness in waste management.

Under CCRMS and NERCRMSS, low-cost biodegradable and re-usable sanitary napkins are being produced by self-help groups with the focus being on girls and rural women.
