Mukhya Mantri Saur Swarojgar Yojana launched in Uttarakhand
The Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat recently launched Mukhyamantri Saur Swarojgar Yojana in Dehradun. The scheme promotes self-employment of the youth. It also promotes production of green energy.
Key highlights
The scheme mainly targets migrant workers and youth who have returned to their homes after leaving their jobs in different parts of the country due to covid-19 lockdown. The beneficiaries of the scheme are to be allocated with solar power plants of 25 KW each. It is estimated that these power plants will generate 38,000 units of electricity per year. The generated electricity is to be bought by Uttarakhand Power Corporation for 25 years.
Financial assistance
Under the scheme, the private banks and cooperative banks are to provide loans for 15 years. The loans are to be provided at an interest rate of 8% per annum to set up solar power plants. The plants are to be constructed on private land or lands that are taken on lease.
The district wise targets of the programme are being discussed with the Ministry of micro small and medium enterprises.
Benefits
The installed solar power plants will help in integrated farming of fruits vegetables and herbs on the same land. The state government has also planned to promote farming seeds of climate based spongy and medicinal plants in the same land.
Quick deployment antenna Technology
Along with the launch of the scheme, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the quick deployment antenna technology of the state disaster response force. Uttarakhand is the first state to use the technology.
The technology is a satellite-based communication technology which helps to establish communication where there is low or zero network coverage. It will mainly assist in sending and receiving video or voice calls and data transfer during emergency situations.
The Chief Minister also launched a wildlife helpline number 1926 that’ll help to reduce human wildlife conflict.
