Mukesh Ambani rolls out JioFiber, offering minimum 100 Mpbs internet speed for Rs.699/month
Reliance Jio Infocomm has commercially launched its fiber-based wired broadband service called JioFiber, which offers a bundle of services such as high-speed internet, landline phone and High Definition (HD) television.
Key Features of JioFiber
Broadband services offer a minimum internet speed of 100 Mbps with plans starting at Rs.699 per month for 100 GB, while higher plans come with freebies like high definition television (TV) sets and set-top boxes.
For those customers opting for annual subscription, Reliance is offering a free set top box.
Jio’s broadband service is offering free voice calling to anywhere in India, TV video calling/conferencing as well as unlimited data.
Gold Plan: Jio is offering complimentary TV sets to annual subscribers of broadband with ‘Gold’ plan in range of `Rs.1,299 to Rs.8,499 per month under introductory welcome offer. JioFiber will offer broadband internet speeds of up to 1 Gbps for Rs.8499/month.
Worry:
In order to lure customers, JioFiber is also offering EMI options for annual plans. As far as the wired broadband market is concerned, current market leader BSNL will take a hit from Jio’s offers.
Also the welcome pack of Jio provides significant incentive for existing urban cable and DTH subscribers, who can afford annual upfront payment to JioFiber. Therefore, Jio’s offer is a game-changer that poses considerable threat to other DTH service providers like Airtel Digital TV, Tata Sky and Dish TV.
Its pricing is structured in such a way that it could trigger a massive wave of disruption in broadband services market. Jio Infocomm’s rivals including Airtel and BSNL will now have to try to play catch-up on prices and freebies to retain customers.
