Major General Kosnam Himalaya Singh: First Army Officer from North Eastern States to be appointed as Lieutenant General

Major General Konsam Himalaya Singh became the first Lieutenant General in the army from North East States. Singh is the senior most serving officer in the army from Manipur. Presently, Major General KM Singh is serving in the military secretary’s branch which is headquartered in New Delhi.
In Kargil war, Singh commanded 27 Rajput Regiment and he was awarded Yudh Seva Medal for leading successful operations. He was awarded the Ati Vishisht Sewa Medal in 2013. Albeit around 2 Indian Air Force Officers from the North Eastern region have risen to 3-star rank, Maj. Gen. Kosnam Himalaya Singh is the first from the Army to reach this rank.
