Mr. Arvind Kejriwal resigned as Delhi CM
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, Mr. Arvind Kejriwal resigned from the post of Chief Minister of Delhi, after failing to introduce and pass the Jan Lokpal Bill in the Delhi Assembly.
In the 70-member Assembly, the Delhi Jan Lokpal Bill was opposed by 42 MLAs: BJP (32), Congress (8) and one of the Janata Dal (United) and an Independent.
Note: The AAP formed the government after winning 28 seats out of 70 in the Assembly election in Delhi. Although, it didn’t have the majority, the Congress party extended its unconditional support to AAP for forming government. Mr. Kejriwal was sworn in as the second-youngest chief minister of Delhi on December 28, 2013.
