MoU to promote honey sector signed

The Council Scientific and Industrial Research signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) to promote the honey sector. The MoU is seen as a formalization of the working relation between CSIR and KVIC. The CSIR will be providing technological expertise to the KVIC for improving honey production. This will aid in the KVIC’s implementation of the Honey Mission. This is alongside other missions of CSIR like the Floriculture Mission and the Aroma Mission. The KVIC, in return, will showcase products from CSIR at its major outlets. This will enable the CSIR to get a wider customer base for its technological products.

The Honey Mission is aimed at popularizing apiculture among the rural population. It was launched in 2017 by KVIC under the Sweet Revolution initiated in 2016. KVIC is a statutory body under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
