Moray eel
Moray eel is a family of marine and brackish water eels (elongated ray-finned fishes) that occur throughout the world. Very rarely, they live in freshwater habitats. Recently, veterinarians performed a rare operation on a moray eel in Thiruvananthapuram Zoo in Kerala, one of the oldest zoos in the country. This is a first for any Indian zoo. The Thiruvananthapuram Zoo was opened in 1857 by the Maharaja of Travancore, Swathi Thirunal Rama Varma.
