PM Modi Launches ‘Bima Sakhi Yojana’ Scheme

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch Bima Sakhi Yojana in Panipat on December 09, 2024, which aims to enhance education and empower women in the region.

Bima Sakhi Yojana Overview

The Bima Sakhi Yojana is a new program by LIC, that targets women aged 18 to 70. Eligible women must have completed Class X. The scheme focuses on financial literacy and insurance awareness. Participants will receive special training. They will also receive a stipend for the first three years, which aims to encourage women’s participation in the workforce.

Training and Employment Opportunities

The training will equip women with essential skills. Graduates can become LIC agents and will learn about insurance products and services. Successful participants may also qualify for Development Officer roles. This program promotes gender equality in the financial sector.

Maharana Pratap Horticultural University

In addition to the Bima Sakhi Yojana, Modi will lay the foundation stone for a new university. The Maharana Pratap Horticultural University will be established in Panipat. It will cover 495 acres and cost over ₹700 crore. The university will feature a College of Horticulture. It will offer Graduate and Post-Graduate studies.

Research and Education Focus

The university will include five schools. These schools will specialise in ten horticulture subjects, which aim is to promote crop diversification. Advanced research in horticulture technologies is a priority. This initiative seeks to enhance agricultural practices in the region.

Both initiatives aim to boost the local economy, which focus on education, women’s empowerment, and agricultural development. These efforts are expected to create job opportunities. They will also improve the overall quality of life in Haryana.
