Miss Universe 2012: Olivia Culpo of US

Miss US, Olivia Culpo was announced winner of the Miss Universe 2012 contest held in Las Vegas.

US has won this title after a gap of more than a decade.
Olivia replaced previous winner Leila Lopes of Angola.
Miss Philippines Janine Tugonon and Miss Venezuela Irene Sofia Esser Quintero were declared second and third runner up respectively.
To contest in the pageant, the participants should not be married or have children.
They must be younger than 27 and older than 18 by February 1 of the competition year.
