Ministry of Defence launches Campaign against Single-Use Plastic

The Ministry of Defence will be organising plogging programme to raise awareness amongst the citizens of the country to collect plastic waste and make the surrounding clean, at more than 400 different locations throughout the country on Saturday, 7th December 2019.

All three forces of Defence, Military, Naval and Air force along with Indian Coast Gaurd(ICG), National Cadet Corps (NCC), Border Road Organization(BRO), Ordnance Factory Board, Cantonment Boards, Defence Public Sector Undertakings and other Defence affiliated organisations will be participating in the event.

The Minister of Defence, Rajnath Singh will flag off the event from Delhi Cantonment at 1230 Hrs IST, where more than 3000 people will participate in the Swachhta related activities and will collect waste plastic.

From Siachin to Jaisalmer and Bhuj to Bairengte, the Indian Army will clean up plastic waste from 17 different locations.

From Mumbai to Karwar and Kolkata to Vishakapatnam, the Indian Navy will clean up plastic waste from 30 different locations.

From Hindon to Upper Shillong and Nagpur to Trivandrum, the Indian Air Force will clean up plastic waste from 260 different locations.

Similarly, ICG-47 locations, NCC-18 locations, Sainik schools-31 locations, BRO-18 locations, Comptroller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA)- 20 location etc will clean up plastic waste across the country.
