Maharashtra Received the SKOCH Award for Public Service

The Maharashtra government received the SKOCH Award on November 30, 2024, which accolades recognise the ‘Shaasan Aplya Daari’ initiative. The project was selected from 280 submissions across India, which delivered over five crore benefits to citizens within a year. The Chief Minister’s Public Welfare Cell implemented the initiative.

Initiative Overview

‘Shaasan Aplya Daari’ translates to ‘Government at your doorstep’, which aims to provide essential services directly to citizens. The program launched on May 15, 2023, in Patan, Satara district, which prioritises accessibility and efficiency in public service delivery.

Award Recognition

The initiative won the SKOCH Award in the Citizen-Centric Administration category. It outperformed over 80 competing projects. The award is distinguished for its rigorous independent evaluation process. This recognition puts stress on the effectiveness of the initiative.

The programme facilitated various government services, which included tractor subsidies, farmer insurance grants, and housing allocations. Citizens also received financial assistance for irrigation and job creation support. These services eliminated the need for travel to Mumbai for government tasks.

Future Plans

Caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced ‘Shasan Aplya Daari 2.0’, which aims to expand the initiative’s reach and impact. The government plans to enhance public service delivery further.

The initiative has improved access to government services. It successfully reached over five crore people in under a year. Coordinator Amol Shinde emphasised the programme’s effectiveness and efficiency. The goal remains to deliver essential benefits to those in need.
