Maharashtra Government Sets Up Committee for Tourism in Forest Reserves of the State
The Maharashtra government is to set up a committee to suggest measures to increase the number of visitors to the state’s forest reserves areas. The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Aaditya Thackeray, the state’s Tourism Minister on Saturday, 18th January 2020. During the meeting, it was decided that the to strengthen the tourism sector of the state, the tourism and the forest department of the state should work together and the National Parks, Wildlife Sanctuaries, Bird Sanctuaries of the state to be promoted as tourist destinations for which the promotion should also be environmentally friendly.
The proposed committee will comprise members from the state tourism and forest development corporation. The main objective of the panel would be promoting forest conservation as well as boosting tourism in the state. The infrastructure of the existing tourism centers would also be improved. After the meeting, the tourism minister informed that the existing tourism centers across the forest reserves of the state will be equipped with better facilities.
