Maharashtra government to allow online RTI queries from 1st January 2015
From 1st January 2015, Maharashtra government is allowing citizens to seek information under RTI Act, online
By launching the online RTI facility, state government is aiming to simplify the process of filing Right to Information (RTI) queries and ushering in transparency in the system.
From 1st January RTI online will be rolled out in the state secretariat and from 1st April it will be launched across the state in all government offices.
General Administration Department (GAD) of state government will take a lead in initiating the on-line services, which will then be followed by all departments of the state secretariat.
Present manual RTI system lacks accountability and credibility because if a person fails to get an answer within one month, he tries again, and this process goes on and on for certain queries.
But online facility will remove this drawback and the information under RTI will be provided to the seeker within a specific time frame.
