Maharashtra Faceless Regional Transport Offices

On 2nd June 2022, the government of Maharashtra launched the faceless Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) to help the citizens of the state avail facilities such as driving licences, etc, without the need of being physically present at the RTOs. This initiative was launched by the Minister of State for Transport Satej Patil.

What are the services that will be available at the faceless RTOs?

Six RTO services will be available online via the faceless RTOS. The six services include:

  • duplicate driving license
  • driving license renewal
  • change of address on a licence
  • change of address on the issued RC book of an individual
  • duplicate RC book
  • no-objection certificate of a licence.

With this move, the citizens will not have to visit the RTOs for the six services. Only those needing a permanent driving licence or for the verification for an international driving licence will need to be physically present at the RTOs. The six faceless services will be Aadhar based, hence, there is no chance of cheating or duplication. These services have been made available with immediate effect. It will help in saving paper and the citizens will have to link their Aadhaar number with their mobile phones to take part in the Faceless RTO scheme.

How many services are being provided online by the transport department of Maharashtra?

At present, the transport department of Maharashtra is providing 118 different services, out of which 80 are online with 6 more services having been included under the new initiative.
