Magnus Carlsen – New King of Chess
Norway’s Magnus Carlsen ended 5 times title-holder Viswanathan Anand’s reign as the world champion. Magnus Carlsen took the crown after a hard-fought draw in the 10th game of the World Chess Championship match. This was the first time in 8 world championship matches starting from 1995 that Anand has was unable to win even a single game. Carlsen made 6.5 points out of a possible 10 by winning 3 games and drawing 7 games. Anand had won the world championship title five times – 2000, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2012 .
