Madhya Pradesh: Government abolishes Sugar Licensing and Control Order
MP Government has abolished the Sugar Licensing and Control Order in the state. MP Govt also made it clear in its notification that abolition of the Control order will not affect any action or decision taken on it under the order in the past.
The step comes as a result of the Centre not extending the validity period of the order pertaining to control over sugar.
Via its notification issued in July 2009, the Central Govt had asked the State Govt of Madhya Pradesh to implement a Licensing System for limiting the stocks of wholesale sugar traders following which the Madhya Pradesh Sugar Traders Licensing and Control Order 2009 was applied.
Since November 30, 2011, the Central Govt did not extend the validity period of this order and thus the Control and Licensing System was abolished.
