Lucknow’s First Night Safari Project Unveiled
The Uttar Pradesh government is developing India’s inaugural night safari in Lucknow. Construction commenced recently, with a projected completion date of June 26, 2026, which will open its doors to visitors in December 2026.
Project Overview
The night safari will span a 900-acre area within the Kukrail forest, which is designed in the shape of a maple leaf. The safari will be the fifth of its kind globally.
Visitors can expect various attractions, which include sky cycling, a skywalk, and a 5.5-km tramway. The environment will be serene, with lighting mimicking moonlight.
Development Timeline
A detailed project plan was presented to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on November 19. This was nearly two years after a digital survey conducted in December 2022. The Chief Minister has instructed officials to ensure completion by June 2026.
Approval and Funding
The project has received preliminary approval from the Central Zoo Authority. They are currently reviewing the detailed plan. The government is also seeking global tenders to find a design company for the project.

The night safari will provide a distinctive experience. It allows visitors to observe animals in a nocturnal setting. A feature of laminated glass will ensure safety while offering thrilling views of carnivores.
