Liverpool FC wins 2019 Fifa Club World Cup
2018-19 UEFA Champions League Winner Liverpool has won the 2019 Fifa Club World Cup on Saturday, 21st December 2019 by defeating the 2019 Copa Libertadores winners Flamengo, 1-0 in the final played at the Khalifa International Stadium, Doha. Brazilian Forward Roberto Firmino’s extra-time goal in the 99th minute of the game allowed the current 2019-20 English Premier League(EPL) leaders Liverpool to claim their first Fifa Club World Cup title.
The 2019 Fifa Club World Cup was hosted by Qatar from 11th to 21st December 2019 in which a total of 7 teams participated- all winners from the six Fifa confederations of the world and as hosts, Al-Sadd Sports Club as the winner of the 2018-19 top-level football championship in Qatar, Qatar Stars League.
The 2019 Fifa Club World Cup was the 16th edition of the tournament, started in the year 2000 as Fifa Club World Championship was not contested due to combination factors from 2001 to 2004. Since 2005, the tournament has been organized every year by the Federation Internationale De Football Association(FIFA).
Spanish professional football club, Real Madrid has been the most successful club across the 16 editions of the Fifa Club World Cup to date by winning 4 titles.
