Lieutenant Shivangi: 1st woman pilot of Indian Navy to join Naval operations
Lieutenant Shivangi become first woman pilot of Indian Navy will join Naval operations. She will join after naval operations on completion of operational training at the Southern Naval Command in Kochi, Kerala on December 2, 2019 two days ahead of Navy Day (observed on December 4).
With this, she will graduate to become the first female Pilot of Indian Navy. On completion of training, she will get authorization to fly dornier aircrafts. Prior to this, Aviation branch of Indian Navy had women officers only operating as air traffic control (ATC) officers and as observers in the aircraft who are responsible for communication and weapons.
About Lieutenant Shivangi
She hails from Muzzafarpur, Bihar. She had completed her schooling from DAV Public school, Muzzafarpur. She was inducted into Indian Navy as Short Service Commission (SSC-Pilot) as part of 27 NOC course in Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala. She was formally commissioned by Vice Admiral AK Chawla in June 2019.
