LEAP – 2019 and ARPIT-2019 Launched

The Ministry of Human Resource Development has launched Leadership for Academicians Programme (LEAP) – 2019 and Annual Refresher Programme in Teaching (ARPIT) – 2019 under Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT).

Leadership for Academicians Programme

The Leadership for Academicians Programme aims to build higher managerial capabilities of existing higher education leaders and administrators and to draw fresh talent into the management of higher education systems.

It was launched to design and deliver a structured scheme of leadership development for Higher Educational Institutions. The objective of the programme is to prepare the second tier academic heads that are potentially likely to assume leadership roles in the future.

Annual Refresher Programme in Teaching

ARPIT is an important and unique initiative aimed at professional development of 1.5 million higher education faculty using the SWAYAM platform. For implementing ARPIT, discipline-specific National Resource Centers are tasked to prepare online training material with a focus on the latest developments in the discipline, new & emerging trends, pedagogical improvements and methodologies for transacting revised curriculum.

Study Webs of Active –Learning for Young Aspiring Minds (SWAYAM) initiative aims to bridge facilitates online hosting of all the courses, taught in classrooms from 9th grade till post-graduation. These online courses can be accessed by anyone, anywhere at any time at free of cost.

Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching

The Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching (PMMMNMTT) is a Central Sector Scheme with All- India coverage. It aims to address comprehensively all issues related to teachers, teaching, teacher preparation and professional development.

On the one hand the Mission would address current and urgent issues such as supply of qualified teachers, attracting talent into teaching profession and raising the quality of teaching in schools and colleges and on the other it envisages the Teacher Mission would pursue long term goal of building a strong professional cadre of teachers by setting performance standards and creating top class institutional facilities for innovative teaching and professional development of teachers.
