Launch of start-up contest “CHUNAUTI”

With a special focus on Tier-II towns, Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad recently launched a Startup Challenge Contest “Chunauti” to promote startups indulged in software products. A total budget of Rs 95.03 Crore over a period of three years has been earmarked for this programme.

Objective

CHUNAUTI abbreviated form of Challenge Hunt Under NGIS for Advanced Uninhibited Technology Intervention is an online Challenge under NGIS (Next Generation Incubation Scheme). The objective is to find the products as well as solutions to address the challenges faced during the pandemic. The programme is looking at the solutions which can support Government, industries & public at large for their seamless operations and enabling them to face the varied difficulties & bottlenecks in a pandemic situation. The programme is said to bring major innovations in the field of Medical Healthcare, Diagnostic, Preventive & Psychological Care

Who all can apply?

Indian Start-ups who are working in software product development related domain and are registered with DPIIT under start-up India programme are encouraged to participate in this programme. Apart from them, start-ups, Individual Academicians, Researchers, Educators, Entrepreneurs and partnership firms are also eligible to apply. Though LLPs Limited Liability partnership Company may also participate, provided if they are selected then they will have to register as a private limited company within 3 months.

Incentives and offerings for the winners

With the involvement of big stakeholders like MeitY, STPI, MSH, STPINEXT INITIATIVES in the programme, the winners will receive a seed funding of up to Rs. 25.00 Lakhs. Distribution of funds will be based on milestones achieved, periodic review and recommendations. The applicant will also get access to VCs for funding support and other support services such as HR, Legal, Accounting, IPR/Patenting etc.
