Latest ICC Test team rankings: India stands on 6th place

Thanks to its loss to Pakistan in a match of the Abu Dhabi Test Series, India dropped to sixth place in ICC’s Test rankings. This ranking change shall remain irrespective of how the rest of the Abu Dhabi Test series turns out.
Pakistan’s ranking
After pushing India down a spot, Pakistan will now occupy the fifth ranking. Currently, Pakistan has a 1-0 lead against Australia in the ongoing Abu Dhabi series. If Pakistan wins the second Test match, it will jump over England and Sri Lanka into third position.
Australia’s position
Along with worsening India’s ranking, Pakistan’s win against both India and Australia puts Australia at a disadvantage too. Australia will now be unable to regain the number one ranking in the Test series. At best, Australia will be able to achieve the number two ranking. Because of its loss to Pakistan, even if it performs well in the upcoming matches, Australia can only get a 1-1 draw, which will keep it three points behind South Africa, in the second position.
