Lachit Borphukan

Lachit Borphukan was an Ahom general who lived in the 13th century when the Ahom Dynasty was ruling over Assam. He is considered as the greatest military general in the history of Assam. In 1671, he defeated the Mughals in the Battle of Saraighat in the Brahmaputra region. The Mughals were led by Raja Ram Singh Kachwaha of Amber, a Rajput who had allied with the Mughal emperor Aurangazeb.
