Labharthiyon Se Rubaroo initiative
On February 18, 2022, Ministry of Housing and Urban affairs (MoHUA) interacted with the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) in virtual mode, under the “Labharthiyon se Rubaroo” initiative.
About Labharthiyon se Rubaroo initiative
- This initiative was launched for monitoring the progress of projects under the Mission by interacting with beneficiaries directly.
- In the session, Secretary of MoHUA interacted with PMAY(U) beneficiaries from Assam, Kerala and Jharkhand to know about their empowerment stories and life transforming experiences after getting a pucca house of their own.
- Virtual tour of their houses was also undertaken.
- This was the 22nd edition of the Initiative, hosted by MoHUA with beneficiaries.
Background
Labarthiyon Se Rubaroo initiative has been planned as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. It was launched in September 2021, by MoHUA.
Objectives of the initiative
Objectives of Labarthiyon Se Rubaroo initiative are:
- To monitor the progress of housing projects
- To bring about able governance and transparency by interacting with the beneficiaries directly.
- To create a platform for officials from MoHUA and respective States/UTs
- To facilitate and expedite the construction of houses in their respective cities and
- To create a feeling of inclusiveness among beneficiaries.
Significance of the mission
Access to a house is the primary indicator of economic and social well-being and dignity of a person. Thus, the mission recognises this fact and gives impetus to women empowerment by ensuring ownership of house. Every house under the mission ensures security, safety and access to basic civic amenities such as toilet, kitchen, water connection and electricity.
About PMAY(U)
PMAY(U) is in its seventh year of implementation. It was launched on 25th June 2015 by the MoHUA. So far, ministry has sanctioned 114.04 lakh houses against the assessed demand of 112 lakh houses. Out of the sanctioned houses, 93.25 lakh are grounded for construction while more than 54.78 lakh have been completed and delivered to the beneficiaries.
