The KVIC (Khadi and Village Industries Commission) has come forward to become “Vocal for Local”.
Vocal for Local
The Vocal for Local aims to give voice to the local produce. In other words, it aims to promote local produce. This is because, with lock down and the threats of COVID-19, it was the local produces that helped people run their routine. This mainly included the supply of essential goods.
KVIC
In order to achieve, “Vocal for Local”, the KVIC has issued guidelines to implement the flagship projects under PMEGP (Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme).
Guidelines
The applications under PMEGP are to be scrutinized at the earliest and forwarded to the banks. The banks shall disburse the funds within 15 days. Earlier, the number of days were 26. The application process is to be implemented by a monitoring cell. This will help in increasing the employment generation within short duration of time.
PMEGP
The scheme was launched in 2008 by merging two schemes namely Prime Minister Rojgar Yojana and Rural Employment Generation Programme. The programme is implemented by KVIC.
