Krishi Vigyan Kendra: Door Delivery of fish Scheme

The Krishi Vigyan Kendra operating under Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute has launched a door delivery scheme in Kerala. Under the scheme, it is providing door delivery of fishes to several households in Kochi city.

Highlights

The Door Delivery scheme has gained a good response in the Kochi city with average daily supply hitting 510 kg. Under the scheme, the KVK is catering 350 homes. Through this, the institute if earning around Rs 1.6 lakh rupees every day.

As many of the fish loading markets in the city are closed, the initiative has gained a huge response

Operation of the initiative

The varieties sold by KVK such are sea bass, pearl spot, crabs and pompano are circulated to consumers through WhatsApp messages. The initiative is being operated through a Self-help Group. The members of the group have been trained under COVID-19 prevention protocol. They are certified as well.

These initiatives are good to be continued even after lock down. This is because, it minimizes traders and benefits farmers directly.
