On January 21, 2022, government launched a portal called “Koyla Darpan” for sharing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to the Coal Sector.

Ministry of Coal
The Indian ministry of coal is headquartered in New Delhi. It is held by Cabinet Minister Pralhad Joshi. Ministry is charged with exploration of coal and lignite reserves in India, supply, production, distribution and price of coal through government-owned corporations Coal India Limited & its subsidiaries, and Neyveli Lignite Corporation. Ministry also manages 49 percent equity participation in Singareni Collieries Company of Union Government, in which 51% equity is held by State Government of Telangana.
Coal India Limited (CIL)
CIL is a coal mining and refining corporation, owned by Indian government. It works under the ownership of Ministry of Coal. It is headquartered in Kolkata, West Bengal. CIL is dubbed as the largest coal-producing company worldwide and a Maharatna public sector undertaking. It is also the fifth largest employer in India. CIL has been ranked at 8th position, among top 20 firms which are responsible for a third of all global carbon emissions.
