KK Venugopal: New Attorney General of India
The President has appointed the senior advocate and constitutional expert KK Venugopal as the new Attorney General of India. The 86 year old KK Venugopal will replace Mukul Rohtagi as the nation’s law officer. Mukul Rohtagi had expressed his unwillingness to continue in the post. KK Venugopal has vast constitutional and legal expertise. He had earlier served as Additional Solicitor General of India in the Morarji Desai’s government. Recently, he was made as a part of the Law Ministry’s high-powered committee constituted to suggest measures to make India an international hub for arbitration and conciliation.
