Kaushalya Matritva Yojana

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel of Chhattisgarh has launched the ‘Kaushalya Matritva Yojana’. On this occasion cheques of Rs 5,000 each were also given to five women beneficiaries for safe motherhood at a state-level conference.

Overview:

  • Under this scheme, on the birth of a second girl child Rs 5000 financial assistance will be given to women.
  • ‘Kanya Vivah Yojana’ Coffee Table Book, brochures of schemes related to women empowerment, and Sakhi One Stop Center Telephone Directory were also released by the Chief Minister.
  • This scheme was also started to address the issues of women lagging behind men in economic participation.
  • Initiatives like ‘Mahila Madai’ were also started earlier by the state government and it helped the women of the state prepare various items at gauthans.
  • Chhattisgarh’s women will produce electricity and manufacture paint from cow dung. It will create employment opportunities and boost the income of women. The state is developing Gauthans into rural industrial parks.
  • On the occasion of ‘Teeja-Pora’, the Chhattisgarh government waived loans of Rs 13 crore of Self-Help Groups and their loan limits were also doubled through Mahila Kosh.

Felicitations at this event

On the occasion, officials doing excellent work in the direction of women’s protection under ‘Nava Bihan Yojana’ and ‘Sakhi One Stop Center’ were felicitated by the Chief Minister. Also, Anganwadi workers who did a commendable job in the Anganwadi services, as well as self-help groups who played a crucial role in making the women of the state financially independent and making them avail the benefits of Chhattisgarh Mahila Kosh schemes, were also felicitated.
